Once again, I was honored to have presented at this year's AERA (American Educational Research Association) annual conference!

With 15,178 attendees, 2,712 sessions, and 59 countries represented - it was a fantastic event! My Roundtable session included presentations from 4 other fantastic scholars. I learned more than I could have hoped with both intended and unintended learning. Highlights included:

  • Seeing the visual impact of Micheal Holden's (Queen's University, @MikeRobHolden) radar charts and how it made his findings, and complexity, so visible!
  • Learning about the impact of the chocolate milk butterfly from Anna Noble Dunphy! (Boston College, @AnnaCNoble) (what a wonderful example of emergence!)
  • Learning about Jason Ribeiro's (University of Calgary, @Jason_Ribeiro, @CalgarySurge) recent research into understanding how partnerships across higher education, industry, and nonprofit partners can change the face of education (so great to finally meet!)

To round off the papers presented at our table, Dr. Kowch (@ekowch) and I presented on how we can describe the very potential, or adaptive capacity, of a leadership team. Through taking an ecosystem approach to linking two traditionally different team features, i.e., adaptability and proactivity, we can plot teams with great potential to emerge and help organizations become more creative, innovative, and adaptable. I was also able to attend fantastic sessions presented by uCalgary's own Dr. Pratim Sengupta (@pratim), Dr. Sarah Elaine Eaton (@DrSarahEaton), and their students. More fantastic learning!
